Fernando Manek

How long have you worked at Multicultural Hub, and what is your role?

I have worked with mHub since January 2025, before that I was a volunteer for many years. My role is Settlement Service Officer.

What do you like about working with the Multicultural Community?

I am a social person who likes to meet, get to know and interact with the people around me. One of the things I like about working with the Multicultural Community is that I can meet and get to know new people who come from different backgrounds with their own stories that they bring. Not only can I get to know new people, but I can also gain new knowledge from them from the social culture perspective, languages, traditions or just their experiences in general.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I grew up with music and sports. So, when other people need a quiet place to meditate, for me, music and sport are my means of meditation!

What would you say to a community member who might be thinking about connecting with a service at Multicultural Hub Canberra?

Community members do not need to be hesitated to come and connect with mHub because we will always welcome you with open arms regardless of your age, gender, nationality, culture, tradition, language or religion. We will also try our best to help our clients in overcoming the obstacles they are facing in terms of finance, employment, education, accommodation, family, health, welfare, or even just to introduce you to the community.
