Domestic and Family Violence Support

Domestic and Family Violence Support

Our domestic and family violence service is funded by ACT Government to work with multicultural women, children and young people to equip them with the knowledge and skills to help them navigate and make decisions to support their safety and wellbeing.

Forms of Violence:

Domestic, family and sexual violence can involve a range of controlling behaviours, some of which may be harder to spot. No matter what form it takes, violence is never acceptable. It is never okay for someone to:

  • Control where you go or who you speak to
  • Physically hurt you
  • Threaten you or your loved ones, including a pet
  • Limit your access to necessities, including healthcare
  • Stalk or monitor you, including online
  • Force you to do sexual acts you don’t want to
  • Regularly put you down, humiliate you or attack your self-esteem
  • Control your finances and financial decisions.
  • Threaten to take away something you value, like custody of your children or your visa status
  • Stop you from practising religious, spiritual or cultural beliefs and rituals
  • Make you feel scared to say ‘no’ to doing something

Navigating the complexities of domestic and family violence can be overwhelming, particularly with language and cultural barriers. Our service ensures that multicultural women have access to culturally safe and appropriate services to support them.

Across mHub, we provide holistic support to our clients through our other programs, including counselling and employment support.

Anyone can access our Multicultural Women’s Service, there are no visa restrictions and referrals can be made directly by the client or by other services.
