Ivapene has been a member of the QLMC Management Committee for over 3 years. Born and raised in Samoa, she migrated to Australia more than 20 years ago. She is not a fan of the cold Canberra winters but loves raising her family in Canberra’s family-oriented community. She is a proud wife and devoted mother of 3.
Ivapene holds a Bachelor of Social Work, a Master’s in International Social Development, and over 20 years of experience in community development. Her work has taken her to different communities in the Pacific and Africa, enriching her perspective and commitment to social justice. She currently works for a healthcare community organisation where she advocates for the healthcare rights of multicultural communities in the ACT and surrounding regions. Beyond her professional career, she serves as a member of the ACT Ministerial Advisory Council for Multiculturalism (MACM), where she continues to champion inclusivity and equity.
Ivapene is proud of the work of QLMC – providing a valuable platform for multicultural communities to connect, grow, and thrive. Through its programs and support, QLMC helps the multicultural community access resources, share their unique experiences, and work together to find solutions to the challenges they face.
