How long have you worked at Multicultural Hub, and what is your role?

I have worked at Multicultural Hub since February 2024, and my role is the Activities Facilitator under the Multicultural Women’s Services.

What do you like about working with the Multicultural Community?

I like interacting with people from the Multicultural Community and seeing how unique individuals can connect despite their differences, whether their differences lie in their language, beliefs, or values. Another valuable aspect of working with the Multicultural Community is that the people I get to meet will always be the ones who continue developing my perspective and understanding of what it means to be a person of colour living in Australia.

What are some of the things you do in your role?

In my role, I work with women from diverse cultural backgrounds to help build meaningful social connections and a sense of belonging. I aim to create a safe space for multicultural women living in Canberra to develop and deepen their social relations, friendships, and community by participating in fun activities and events with them.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I used to be afraid of dogs, but now I am proud to say that I am a dog lover for life.

What would you say to a community member who might be thinking about connecting with a service at Multicultural Hub Canberra?

I would say that connecting with a service at Multicultural Canberra does not always have to be formal and case managing-focused. We have a variety of services internally and externally available to multicultural community members at whatever life stage they may be at.
