What is your role at the Multicultural Hub?

It is my 3rd week on the job but I have been around the blocks in the youth and community sector for many years now. I am really excited to be a part of the team now. My role is a Youth and Community Development officer

What do you like about working with the Multicultural Community?

I like learning about different cultures and their way of life and all the wonderful things they do to be happy from the food, traditional ceremonies and cultural dances. It brings joy to my heart learning and relating to the Multicultural community.

What are some of the things you do in your role?

Work collaboratively with other community services to provide support and events for the multicultural community. Case management in the schools for youth and families that have not been in the country for a short period of time.

What’s something people might not know about you?

I was born and raised in New Zealand, but my ethnicity is Tongan. I love training in the gym and enjoy being active and playing different sports in my spare time.

What would you say to a community member who might be thinking about connecting with a service at Multicultural Hub Canberra?

You will not feel out of place, it will feel like we are your second home, we understand the struggles and disappointments people face when moving countries and not knowing how to find your feet. Here at Multicultural hub we try to fill that gap in society and support in any way that we can.
